Spice Board Certification (CRES)

Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices facilitation under the Spices Board of India for whole, ground, and value-added spices.

What is Spices Board CRES?

The Spices Board of India, functioning under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is the statutory organization responsible for the export development and quality regulation of the 52 scheduled Indian spices.

Under the Spices Board Act, 1986, no commercial enterprise can export spices from India without a valid Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES). The CRES acts as the official Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) for the spice trade sector and is mandatory for customs clearance.

India is the world's leading producer and exporter of diverse spices. Scheduled commodities governed by the board include:

  • Seed Spices (Major Gujarat Crops): Cumin (Jeera), Coriander (Dhania), Fennel (Saunf), Fenugreek (Methi), Mustard, Celery, and Dill seed.
  • Major Whole Spices: Black pepper, Cardamom (small & large), Ginger, Turmeric, Garlic, and Red Chillies.
