DGFT Digital Signature Certificate

Specialized cryptographic certificate integrated with your 10-digit Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) for foreign trade filings.

What is a DGFT Digital Signature?

A DGFT Digital Signature Certificate is a specialized digital certificate specifically engineered for transactions with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Unlike standard individual DSCs, a DGFT DSC has the applicant company's 10-digit Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) embedded directly inside the certificate's cryptographic subject parameters.

When an exporter or importer signs an application on the DGFT portal (such as license applications, duty exemption schemes, or electronic certificates of origin), the portal's automated server cross-verifies that the IEC number inside the digital token exactly matches the IEC number of the logged-in commercial entity.

Why Exporters Require a DGFT DSC

The DGFT portal requires digital signing for all official submissions under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP). Essential applications requiring a DGFT DSC include:

  • IEC Annual Re-validation & Modification: Mandatory yearly updating of branch addresses and director details.
  • Advance Authorization & DFIA: Duty-free import authorizations for manufacturing export goods.
  • EPCG Scheme Applications: Concessional zero-duty capital goods imports tied to export obligations.
  • Electronic Certificate of Origin (e-COO): Applying for preferential and non-preferential certificates through the DGFT Common Digital Platform.

Documentation Requirements

To ensure accurate IEC parameter embedding in accordance with CCA guidelines, applicants must furnish:

  • Copy of active Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) certificate issued by DGFT.
  • Applicant PAN Card and Aadhaar Card.
  • Company PAN Card and Certificate of Incorporation (or Partnership Deed / GST registration).
  • Board Resolution or authorization letter on official letterhead designating the authorized signatory.
  • Paperless video verification and Aadhaar OTP authentication.

How Ocean Technovative Assists

Ocean Technovative verifies your DGFT IEC records against MCA/GST registrations prior to submitting the application to a licensed Certifying Authority. We provision the cryptographic keys on a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 USB token, install necessary PKI token drivers, and guide your team on registering the token inside your DGFT online portal profile.

DGFT Portal Note: The DGFT portal requires the PKI service applet to be running on your local operating system. If you encounter "DSC not detected" errors during signing, our technical team provides step-by-step assistance in configuring token middleware.
